Brendan Beresford, MD
(currently not accepting new patients)
Dr. Brendan Beresford (pronounced Bears-ferd) attended medical school in Newfoundland, Canada and worked as a Family Practice physician for many years. Because the mental health aspect of illness fascinated him, he went back into training for four years to become a psychiatrist. He completed his psychiatric residency training at the University of Chicago in 2004 and joined our group later that year. He has been Board Certified in Psychiatry since 2005.
For over ten years Dr. Beresford was a vital asset to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois, serving as their Chairman of Psychiatry and Director of Geriatric-Psychiatry. Then in 2008, he underwent additional training and became certified in conducting electro-convulsive therapy (ECT), and soon after became MacNeal’s Director of the ECT laboratory. In early 2015 Dr. Beresford resigned from his numerous positions at MacNeal Hospital to focus on his private practice treating adults here at Stillpoint.
